Adams Street Public Library is pleased to present Cazorla + Saleme inaugural solo exhibition and their first in Brooklyn. Inspired by countless walks through the Brooklyn Bridge Park and hours contemplating New York City’s skyline at sunset and sunrise, “As the Clocks Were Striking the Hour” offers a powerful expression of introspection in unsettling times. With gratitude, humility, and care, the duo’s works on display weave together the urban and natural environment. Mirroring the eye of a filmmaker, the seven pieces unfold like still frames, capturing a singular moment where color and line dominate the scene.

This exhibition reflects the core of their practice: a belief in art as a poetic gesture and a social force. Cazorla + Saleme are a collaborative duo whose work addresses issues of social justice, migration, and cultural identity through drawing, painting, installation, and public art. Since 2010, they have exhibited widely in the U.S. and internationally, while engaging deeply with community-based art projects. Their practice celebrates nature, memory, and the power of contemplation.
